Fall Palette - 2011

The folks over at Coletterie are running a Fall Palette challenge. Basically, you choose your colors and then decide how many pieces you want to make and then try to do that over the course of 6-8 weeks. I have to admit, it is so inspiring to see what everyone is making! I've actually been really productive so far, but haven't taken any photos of my new clothes yet (eh, it's been unseasonably warm). I've even made things that were not on my list o' things to make, but won't bother to photograph those, since they are actually warm weather clothes (call it "getting a headstart on Spring 2012").

Just to give you a taste of what I'm working on, here is my chosen color palette:

If I were to add any more colors, it would be a nice red. I think that may be the only thing lacking. But, I didn't want to totally overwhelm myself right out of the gate.

I had to include my three favorite colors: Olive green, purple and teal. I keep returning to those colors again and again. Occasionally, I want to fight the urge to use them, since they stand out/don't blend in/are unique, but then I remember that is exactly why I love them so. Sometimes, it's hard to be different, but if we were all the same, the world would be a very boring place indeed!

P is for Pearl

Pearl is my maternal grandmother and one of my favorite people. It seems only fitting to name this blog after her, since she has been an inspiration and a rock. I would like to intersperse this blog with some of her wisdom and some stories I have of her, as well as fill it with all of my crafting goodness. It will, in fact, replace nxtdrgrrl as my crafting blog as I no longer feel very grrlish (a relic of the 90s 'girl power' phenom powered by the Spice Girls and the internet boom). It was bound to happen sometime, so let today be that day.
